Our story

Two founders. One question. Why does a $26 billion industry run on group chats?

The name
ma·zal u’·bra·cha
/ ˈmɑː·zəl ʊ ˈbrɑː·χə / phrase Hebrew · Yiddish
1. Luck and blessing.
2. The words that seal a deal in the diamond and watch trade. Once spoken, the deal is binding — no contract required. “We shook hands, he said mazal, and the piece was mine.”
Origin · From Hebrew mazal, “luck, fortune,” + u’, “and,” + bracha, “blessing.”

For generations on 47th Street, a deal has been sealed with a single word and a handshake. No contracts. No lawyers. Once a dealer says “mazal,” the deal is done.

That trust is the foundation of the trade. We named the company after it because that’s exactly what we set out to protect — and to bring online, without losing what makes it work.

How it started

CHAPTER 01The problem

A world-class trade, scattered everywhere.

When the two of them looked closely at how watch dealers actually run their business, they found it wasn’t in one place — it was in a dozen.

A single deal could start in a group chat, move to a DM, get invoiced on paper, ship through a courier site and end up as a contact in someone’s phone. Here’s where everything lived:

  • Sourcing & deals 100+ WhatsApp, Telegram and WeChat group chats
  • Messages Instagram DMs, texts and phone calls
  • Inventory Spreadsheets and camera rolls
  • Invoices & payments Paper, PDFs and bank screenshots
  • Shipping Separate courier sites and tracking numbers
  • Clients Notebooks and personal phones

None of it was connected. None of it was verified. And many of those group chats charged dealers $300 to $1,500 a month — with no way to know who was actually inside.

CHAPTER 02The cost

Dealers were losing real money, every day.

Finding a single watch took anywhere from three days to two weeks. Requests passed through daisy chains of middlemen, each adding a markup. Fakes and damaged pieces slipped through. Dealers were scammed — in one case, out of a $150,000 watch. And with every piece of the business in a different place, nothing could be tracked or trusted.
